Manchester City’s Patrick Vieira insists his side’s season can still be considered a success despite only being in the running for the FA Cup.
City are sitting in fourth place on the English Premier League table, 10 points behind leaders Manchester United and seemingly out of the title race.
But they remain poised to clinch a Champions League qualifying place, provided they can hold onto a top-four placing.
Roberto Mancini’s side are also preparing for an FA Cup semi-final showdown with bitter rivals United at Wembley on April 16.
Although they were knocked out of the Europa League by Dynamo Kiev this month, 34-year-old Vieira believes the season can still be classified as a success.
“The spirit is really positive,” Vieira told Omnisport.
“We have a fantastic semi-final to play against Manchester United and we are still fighting to finish in the top four so it’s all very exciting.”
“Yeah, finish in the top four and to win the FA Cup would be a good season.”
