David Villa and David Silva have ended months of speculation by agreeing new contracts with Valencia, it emerged in The Sun. The duo had been linked with moves away from Mestalla, but now they look set to stay put.
David Silva had been linked with a host of clubs, most notably Liverpool, but his decision to pledge his future to Valencia has not deterred Barcelona from making their interest in the player public.
“Silva is an interesting, good player, not only for us but also for teams in other countries,” said Barcelona’s director of football, Txiki Bergistan, according to The Daily Mail.
David Villa had been linked with moves to Real Madrid and Tottenham, but since the Spanish champions have claimed that van der Vaart could be the only player they sign this summer and the North Londoners might be reluctant to match Valencia’s asking price – £32 million – the player was left without much of a choice.
