Villa chasing Stuttgart midfielder

Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert is already thinking about who to bring to the club in the January transfer window, with Stuttgart midfielder William Kvist being one of his targets, according to Talk Sport.

Lambert certainly knows all about Bundesliga football after enjoying a fantastic spell as Borussia Dortmund during his playing days.

Now the Scotsman is ready to dive into the German league to strengthen his Villa squad and Kvist is someone who he seems to be an admirer of.

The Danish international has played seven times for Stuttgart in the league this campaign, adding to his 33 appearances last time out.

Lambert’s Villa side have struggled in the English Premier League so far and they currently sit just one point above the relegation zone.

This is why the Midlands club are likely to spend a fair bit of cash in the New Year, especially if they are in a relegation battle.

The 27-year-old is apparently valued at around £6 million and Serie A outfit Chievo are also monitoring his progress between now and January.

With him being under contract until 2016 though, the ball is certainly in Stuttgart’s court, so he may now be heading anywhere.

We shall see.
