Villa edge close to Richards deal

Aston Villa are on the verge of completing the signing of Micah Richards, according to the Mirror.

The full-back spent last season on loan at Fiorentina, though he made just ten league appearances for the Serie A side, with just seven of those coming from the start.

In the two seasons prior to his switch to the Italian side, Richards played just nine times in the league though in total racked up almost two hundred and fifty outings for City, scoring nine goals.

He was part of the squad that won the FA Cup in 2011 and the Premier League title the following year, though he made just two appearances in the championship winning 2013/14 campaign.

The 26 year old has thirteen caps for England, with his one and only international goal coming in a 3-0 European Championships qualifying victory over Israel in September 2007, and was part of Great Britain’s squad for the 2012 Olympic Games.
