Aston Villa are set to make an £8m move for Queens Park Rangers striker Charlie Austin, according to the Metro.
Remi Garde, who took charge at Villa Park a fortnight ago, is keen to add firepower to the squad he has inherited – a squad that has managed just ten goals in twelve league games so far this season.
Austin was strongly expected to secure a move to a Premier League side in the summer, but opted to remain at Loftus Road to aid the London club’s promotion push.
He has seven goals in sixteen appearances so far this season, though his side currently sit in thirteenth place eight points off the play-offs and fourteen behind the top two.
In total, the former Burnley man forty-five goals in eighty-five games for QPR having had a similar record for his previous club.
Last season – his only campaign in the top flight – only Sergio Aguero, Harry Kane and Diego Costa finished above in the goal-scoring charts.
