Villa and Hull to battle for Cleverley

Aston Villa and Hull City are battling to secure the services of Manchester United midfielder Tom Cleverley, according to the Express.

The England international, who has failed to win over critics over the past two seasons, has just twelve months remaining on his current deal.

Manager Louis van Gaal is willing to listen to offers for the midfielder, though he did play the full ninety minutes in the 1-1 draw at Sunderland at the weekend.

In total, the 25 year old has made seventy-nine appearances in all competitions for United, scoring five goals while he has been capped thirteen times for England.

However, he failed to make Roy Hodgson’s squad for the World Cup finals in Brazil in the summer, and missed out on selection for the forthcoming games against Norway and Switzerland.

He has also spent time out on loan, firstly with Leicester City, then with Watford and Wigan Athletic before returning to Manchester ahead of the 2011/12 campaign.
