Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Kenny Jackett has yet to receive an approach from Aston Villa regarding the services of winger Bakary Sako amid increasing speculation suggesting Villa are keen on the Mali international.
Sako, whose current contract at Molineux will expire at the end of the season, has been linked with a move to the English Premier League on several different occasions over the past 12 months.
According to reports, the highly-rated winger could leave for as little as £2 million in January. However, Wolves boss Kenny Jackett has insisted the club have no intention of offloading their top scorer during the winter transfer window.
“I don’t think we’d be looking at that [letting him go] – we’d like to make sure he’s part of things here going forward,” Jackett said.
“If the right price is there, it has to be considered. But we’d need a very good offer. We’re not trying to instigate anything. We’ll deal with it if and when the phone rings.
“We’ve had no contact from Villa and we’d love to keep Sako because he’s been a big part of what we’ve done here.
“We do value and rate him very highly, and as long as there’s open dialogue between the two sides, I think he’ll stay settled and focused.”
Sako has bagged seven goals in 13 league appearances for third-placed Wolves (7-5-2) this season.
Zouma happy at Chelsea
Chelsea F.C. defender Kurt Zouma has revealed he is ‘very happy’ at Stamford Bridge despite limited first-team opportunities.
Since arriving from Ligue 1 side AS Saint-Étienne, the France youth international, 20, has made just four appearances, including three starts, for the Blues.
That said, Zouma is enjoying life in West London, and perhaps understandably so… After all, Chelsea–the only remaining unbeaten side in England’s top-flight–are top-of-the-table and among the favourites to win the UEFA Champions League.
Life is, and should be, good.
“I feel very well, I am very happy to be here,” said Zouma. “We have a very good and strong team. We are working very hard to win trophies.
“I am making progress when I play, when the coach gives me a chance. I am also learning from very good players in John Terry and Gary Cahill.
“We have a lot of games to play this season and when I have my chance, I try to be my best and play a very good game.
“Before I played in France and this is very different for me. I hope I will play a lot of games in the Premier League, it’s a good League. I am enjoying it.”
