Villa wrap up Shorey and Young

According to a report on Skysports.com, Nicky Shorey is set to undergo a medical at Aston Villa today after Reading accepted a reported bid of £3.5 million for the left back.

Villa confirmed in a statement on their official website that 27-year-old Shorey is due to discuss terms. The statement read, “Villa are set for talks with England full-backs Luke Young and Nicky Shorey after agreeing fees with Middlesbrough and Reading respectively.”

Shorey has been linked with a host of Premier League clubs this summer, including Portsmouth and Sunderland, but it appears that Villa is set to land the England international.

Royals boss Steve Coppell admitted on Wednesday that he was bracing himself for the full-back’s exit and revealed the club had already rejected one offer.
