According to Skysports.com, Carlos Villanueva will complete his move to Blackburn this week.
Reports on Friday revealed that Rovers were keen on taking the Audax Italiano midfielder to Ewood Park on a season-long loan deal, with a view to a permanent deal and a final fee of around £4 million being mooted.
The securing of a work permit presents the final potential obstacle but with both sides expecting the formalities to be completed without a hitch, the Audax president, Valentin Cantergiani, claims the 22-year-old will be on his way to England in the next few days.
“It will be completed next week,” Cantergiani said on Cooperativa radio station.
“There are some details to finalize, but there is an agreement with Blackburn Rovers.”
