Villarreal are on the verge of signing Real Madrid flop Sergio Canalles, according to Marca.
The promising midfielder failed to command a starting place following his summer move from Racing Santander and he has now been made available for sale.
Villarreal are looking to take advantage of the situation and sign the highly rated midfielder, with the Yellow Submarine willing to offer between €10 and €12 million.
If the two sides reach an agreement, Real would have the option to buy back the player for an agreed price, meaning that los Blancos would not have missed out on a great talent if he managed to prove his potential at El Madrigal.
Jose Mourinho doesn’t want to lose a player of such potential, which is why a transfer to Villarreal with a buy-back option would be the best for all three parties.
Should Canalles move to another Spanish club, Real would also save a couple of million euros that Racing would be due if the player moved abroad.
