Villarreal are interested in bringing Alberto Riera back to Spain in the summer, according to News of the World.
The 27-year-old has failed to make an impact at Liverpool since joining the club from Espanyol in a £8million deal in 2008.
Riera has fallen down the pecking order at Anfield, following the arrival of Maxi Rodriguez in January.
A source for Villarreal told News of the World: “If a deal for Riera is feasible, we will have to explore our options.”
Villarreal are keen for Riera to replace Robert Pires, who is set to leave the club at the end of the season.
