(GSM) – After more than a week of speculation, La Liga side Villarreal have secured the signing of Spanish midfielder Borja Valero on a season-long loan deal from West Bromwich Albion.
According to Villarreal’s official club Web site, the midfielder will be announced as a member of the Yellow Submarine in a news conference on Tuesday.
Valero, 25, played the whole of last season on loan at Mallorca where he scored five league goals in 33 games en route to a fifth-place finish for the islanders.
The player signed with West Brom from Mallorca in 2008 for €7 million, a club-record transfer fee. He played the 2008-09 season without scoring a goal in 31 appearances and was loaned to Mallorca for last season.
According to West Brom’s Web site, the loan deal is in place with a view toward a permanent move to El Madrigal.
