Villarreal sign Iturra

Villarreal have confirmed the signing of Manuel Iturra, who joins the Spanish club on a free transfer. The 34-year-old recently left Malaga after a short but sweet spell with the club, and while he’s certainly had his fair share of clubs over the course of the last few clubs, Iturra is certainly a reliable hand to have as cover either in defence or in midfield.

Iturra is most well known for his time at Universidad Chile, where he made more than 200 appearances for the club. Since then he’s been searching for a more permanent home, but instead of achieving that, he’s bounced around a series of different teams without managing to make any position his own. Now, however, with a team like Villarreal, he’ll be hoping to make a statement to the point where he can lock down a place in the first team for the next year at least.
