Villarreal striker Ikechukwu Uche has all but confirmed that he will be signing a new contract at El Madrigal.
With his current deal due to expire at the end of the season, the Nigerian was linked with a January exit, and up until recently it was believed he was not too keen on extending his contract.
However, speaking to reporters following the 2-0 triumph over Almeria, where he scored both goals for the Yellow Submarine, Uche confirmed the contract talks were taking place and hinted an agreement could be reached soon.
The Nigerian striker has spent his entire professional career in Spain, having joined Racing Ferrol in 2002 and going on to play for Recreativo Huelva, Getafe, Zaragoza and Villarreal.
It was at El Madrigal that Uche enjoyed the best period of his career, bagging 14 league goals in each of the first two seasons at the club.
He has continued the rich vein of form this season, netting three times in six appearances.
