Villas-Boas: Anelka wants to leave

Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas has revealed that Nicolas Anelka has expressed his desire to leave the club at the end of the season.

The Frenchman has one year left on his deal at Stamford Bridge and he has refused to sign a new contract.

The 32-year-old was linked with Paris Saint-Germain and a move to MLS, and Andre Villas-Boas now reveals that Anelka will be leaving Stamford Bridge at the end of the season.

“Nico as a person is very, very happy, he belongs to Chelsea in the last year of his contract, performing,” the Portuguese told reporters.

“We will make our efforts for him to renew but Nico has his own decision to make and I am not sure he will be willing.”

Asked whether Anelka had revealed his desire to leave the club, Villas-Boas replied: “Yes.”
