Former Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas believes Portugal can win Euro 2012 after they progressed to the semi-finals.
Cristiano Ronaldo’s was enough for Portugal to beat the Czech Republic 1-0 in the first quarter-final of the tournament on Thursday.
After recovering from a 1-0 defeat to Germany in their opening match, Portugal have now managed three victories in succession, against Denmark, the Netherlands and the Czechs.
Next up is a semi-final against either France or holders Spain. And regardless of their last-four opponents, Villas-Boas believes national team coach Paulo Bento has acquitted himself well.
“There has been an evolution after every match. Portugal have the right coach,” Villas-Boas told reporters.
“Yesterday, we took another decisive step and we have every chance to win the tournament.”
Villas-Boas, who was sacked by Chelsea in March after just 10 months in charge, has been heavily linked with the vacant managerial position at Tottenham Hotspur.
