Villas-Boas calls team meeting

Under-fire Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas has called a team meeting to quell dissatisfaction at the club.

Villas-Boas wants to stamp his authority as Chelsea prepare to face a tough upcoming five games in the next two weeks that could define his future.

Britain’s Daily Mirror newspaper suggests that Villas-Boas feels that he needs to get rid of the cliques within the dressing room.

In addition, the Portuguese boss also appears under pressure to feature 50 million pounds striker Fernando Torres more often.

Villas-Boas allegedly believes that turning him into an impact substitute will help him rediscover his knack of scoring goals although the club’s hierarchy reportedly want to see the Spaniard play start more games.

With Chelsea fifth in the league, 12 points behind leaders Manchester City after 12 games and with the club also on the brink of being knocked out of the Champions League group stages, owner Roman Abramovich has witnessed the Blues’ worst start since he took over.

To make matters worse for the manager, his number two Roberto Di Matteo is understood to be struggling with being an assistant and would like to go back to being a manager again.

“In football you live in the moment, and Chelsea’s moment is negative,” Villas-Boas told the Daily Mirror.

“We have to avert the bad results and get into a dynamic of victory.”

“It’s not about what I expect, it’s about Chelsea’s expectations. Chelsea’s expectations are titles, and at the moment there is no title to play for.”

“At the moment the negatives are all out exposed, but that doesn’t mean we don’ have the character to change it.”
