Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas denies the club have attempted to sign Lazio striker Miroslav Klose in the summer transfer window.
Spurs are set to host the Serie A side in Europa League group stage clash, with the Germany international expected to lead Lazio attack.
The veteran striker recently revealed he had rejected an approach from Tottenham to remain with the Biancocelesti, but Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas has moved to deny the speculation.
“The player had been offered to us by the usual round of agents, but there was never any real negotiation,” Villas-Boas said to La Gazzetta dello Sport.
“Klose is an important player, but I have very good strikers. With Defoe, Adebayor and Dempsey I can feel comfortable.”
Despite being in the closing stage of his playing career, the German striker is still firing on all cylinders and has scored 3 goals in as many Serie A games this season.
The 34-year-old bagged 12 goals in 27 league games during his first campaign at Olimpico, which led to several high-profile clubs showing interest in his services.
Miroslav Klose is still regarded a first choice striker in the national team and has started both games for Germany in the 2014 World Cup qualifiers.
