Virgil van Dijk wants to stay at Liverpool

Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk has told his friends that he is keen on extending his stay at Anfield, according to Football Insider. Van Dijk is out of contract at Liverpool at the end of the season, and the report has claimed that the former Celtic centre-back is keen on staying at the Premier League club in the long term.

Van Dijk has been on the books of Liverpool since 2018 when he joined from Southampton. The Netherlands international centre-back has established himself as one of the best players in his position in the world and is a key figure for the Reds. During his time at Liverpool so far, Van Dijk has won the Premier League, the FA Cup, EFL Cup (twice) and the UEFA Champions League.

Liverpool are at the top of the Premier League table at the moment with 18 points from seven matches, a point ahead of defending champions Manchester City and Arsenal, who are second and third respectively in the standings.
