Eredivisie side Vitesse Arnhem have denied that a deal is in place with Premier League side Swansea City for striker Wilfried Bony.
The 24-year-old’s agent, Francis Kacou, had earlier suggested in the Dutch media that a move was imminent, with the player just needing to agree personal terms on a reported £10.2 million move.
Vitesse confirmed that the Welsh club were one of a number of sides interested in the player’s services, but refuted claims that a deal had been struck.
A statement on their website read: “(On) Thursday afternoon June 27 various media reports (suggested) that Wilfried Bony (was) to move to Premier League club Swansea City. This message is incorrect.
“For the striker, top scorer in the Eredivisie last season, there is admittedly much interest and Swansea City are one of the interested clubs. However, a transfer is not the case.”
The Ivory Coast international had a terrific season in the Eredivisie, scoring 37 goals in 36 appearances.
