Serie A outfit Fiorentina are edging closer to securing a deal for the Palmeiras centre-back Vitor Hugo, according to reports from Globo Esporte.
The 26-year-old Brazil international defender is seen as a direct replacement for Gonzalo Rodriguez who looks set to leave Viola at the end of the season.
The experienced 33-year-old defender will not be signing a new contract with Fiorentina as the club only offered a deal with reduced wages and departure is on the cards for the Argentine international at the end of the season.
Fiorentina have already made firm moves towards securing Vitor Hugo’s signature and a deal is reported to be close.
Viola will pay €8 million for the player who spent his entire career in Brazil.
Hugo started his career at Santo Andre, whereas he also spent time at Sport, Ituano, Ceara and America Mineiro, before moving to Palmeiras in 2016.
