England haven’t been able to begin their World Youth Championship campaign on a positive note, losing their opener 0-1 to Uruguay.

The two sides were rather equal in the first half, but Uruguay began to gain terrain after the break, especially with the arrival of substitutes Abel Hernandez and Tabare Viudez.

Both forwards had chances to decide the clash through the second half but couldn’t find a way part England goalkeeper Parish.

But the winning goal was finally scored in the 84th minute, when a stunning scissor-kick from Viudez left Parish stranded, 1-0 to the South Americans.

Uruguay share the Group D lead with Ghana, who beat Uzbekistan earlier on Saturday.
