FC Volendam have secured promotion to the Dutch Eredivisie. A 1-0 win at ADO Den Haag was enough to clinch the Jupiler League championship.

Volendam needed a victory to win the Jupiler League – formerly known as Eerste Divisie – season and get promoted to the top flight.

ADO Den Haag didn’t make it easy on their guests, but a 26th-minute goal from Tuyp would eventually be enough to secure the championship.

The only remaining rivals, RKC won their match over Fortuna Sittard 2-1 and share the top spot but Volendam. However, Volendam’s goal record is better.

Volendam’s promotion comes after a four-year stint at the second level. In 2004, the club finished 17th in the Eredivisie and were defeated in play-offs.

RKC Waalwijk, FC Den Bosch, FC Zwolle, MVV, ADO Den Haag, Helmond Sport, Go Ahead Eagles and Top Oss will be joining the numbers 16 and 17 of the Eredivisie in promotion/relegation play-offs.
