Fortuna Dusseldorf striker Andriy Voronin appears to be on his way out of the club after a poor run of form to start his stint there.
The Ukraine international has been the subject of heavy criticism since the beginning of the Bundesliga campaign, after his July loan move from Russian outfit Dynamo Moscow.
“Apparently, I do not fit into Fortuna Dusseldorf,” the 33-year-old told Bild.
Coach Norbert Meier banned Voronin from the squad ahead of their 1-0 DFB-Pokal victory against Borussia Moenchengladbach.
“If a player does not perform, you have to take these measures,” the coach said.
Former Liverpool man Voronin commented on rumours stating Dynamo might have him back in their team as soon as January.
“I do not think about that. But if there is something to talk about, we will sit down and discuss it like men,” he said.
Dusseldorf are 13th in the Bundesliga and are preparing to travel to Bayer Leverkusen for their next league fixture on Sunday.
