A move to Blackburn is unlikely for Roma’s Mirko Vucinic after his agent claimed the striker deserved to play for a ‘more prestigious club’.

The Montenegro international has been linked with a move away from the Stadio Olimpico with English Premier League club Rovers reportedly a firm favourite for his signature.

But his agent Alessandro Lucci quashed the rumours on Sunday, saying Vucinic deserved a more prominent club than Blackburn.

“I have not heard anything. For now it’s on standby because first we want to understand the intentions of Roma,” he told Sky Italia.

“Blackburn talk is just a rumour. It is a respectable club but I think Mirko deserves a more prestigious club.”

Roma’s Serie A rivals Juventus are also reportedly interested in securing the services of the goal-scorer.

Roma sporting director Walter Sabatini said Vucinic needed to change his attitude if he wanted to remain at the club, but they were keen to keep him.

“I tried to get him to think positively. He is very bitter,” he told Tele Radio Stereo.

“I remind everyone that Vucinic is a champion who has the technical ability only possessed by five or six players in Europe.”

“The affection of fans is required for all players, especially for someone like him because he feels this low esteem.”

“If, on his holidays, Mirko finds the necessary serenity to be a Roma player her will make us win many games. If this does not happen, he will be a player on the market.”

Lucci denied there had been contact between Roma and Juventus over a potential move for Vucinic to Turin.
