It looks like Schalke 04 have found their new head coach. David Wagner has verbally agreed a deal to take over at Schalke once the season is over. According to the Mirror, the 47-year-old is the solution after the departure of Domenico Tedesco. Wagner left Huddersfield in January after it was becoming clear that the Terriers were heading for relegation to Championship.
He took a break from management since, but he appears set to return back to business with the Bundesliga club. Wagner did incredible job with Huddersfield, promoting them from Championship when no one really expect that to happen. He even managed to keep them in Premier League for a season, against all odds, but in second season it was simply unrealistic for a repeat to happen.
Wagner spent four years as the second-team coach of Schalke’s arch-rivals Borussia Dortmund, where he worked with now-Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp.
