Walcott close to agreeing new deal

The London Evening Standard suggests that Theo Walcott is finally close to signing a new contract with Arsenal until 2016, which will of course end speculation that he could be on the move in either the January, or summer transfer window.

Walcott is out of contract with the English Premier League side at the end of the campaign and is now free to talk to clubs about a potential move away from the Emirates Stadium.

However, it seems as though his intentions have always been to stay in North London and now the Gunners are preparing to offer him the £100,000-per-week deal that he has been after for a number of months now.

The 23-year-old has scored 14 goals across all competitions this campaign and wants to play as a striker rather than as a winger. But, there is nothing in this offer that guarantees he will be played as a forward.

This story has been going on for some time now and if reports are true, everyone involved with Arsenal will be delighted that it is finally over.

Until a deal has been agreed though, a team can still enquire about Walcott’s services, so keep an eye on this one over the next few days.
