Neil Warnock has revealed that he turned down an opportunity to sign Virgil van Dijk whilst he was managing Crystal Palace, according to the Mail Online.
Liverpool paid Southampton a record £75m fee to secure the services of the Netherlands international back in January and he has made quite the impression since arriving at Anfield.
The twenty-seven-year-old, who is now recognised as one of the best centre-backs in the world has racked up thirty-four appearances in all competitions for the Merseyside outfit with his one and only goal for the club so far coming in the 2-1 FA Cup Third Round win over Everton back in January.
His popularity around the squad was confirmed midweek when he was selected by his teammates as captain with James Milner and Jordan Henderson absent from the starting line-up.
Liverpool face Warnock’s Cardiff at Anfield on Saturday, with the home win priced at 1/9.
