Premier League newcomers Watford are showing interest in Lille defender Marko Basa, according to L’Equipe.
The Hornets have already recruited Sebastian Prodl and Giedrius Arlauskis, and they plan to make the Montenegrin defender their third signing of the transfer window.
Seeing as the 32-year-old has a €1.5 million release clause in his deal that is valid until the end of June, Watford hope to sign him on a cut-price deal.
However, L’Equipe has learned that Basa is having second thoughts about joining the Hornets, meaning the deal may not materialise.
Given that Lille cashed in on Simon Kjaer earlier this summer, they will not be too keen on selling the other starting centre-back.
Marko Basa joined les Dogues four years ago from Lokomotiv Moscow and has since featured in 118 Ligue 1 matches.
The experienced defender is also an important member of the Monetengro national team and has so far earned 33 caps, scoring one goal.
