The Guardian is reporting that Watford are on the verge of signing Argentine forward Mauro Zarate from Fiorentina.
The Hornets have had a £2.3 million offer accepted for the 29-year-old, who is expected to sign a deal until June 2019 at Vicarage Road.
Watford are looking to reinforce their front line as Odion Ighalo should be sold to West Bromwich, and they will now add Zarate to their attacking options that include Troy Deeney, Stefano Okaka Chuka and Isaac Success.
The Argentine footballer has struggled for playing time since he left West Ham United to join Fiorentina, but he, nonetheless, managed 5 goals in 7 Serie A starts.
But, considering that he was not in the first team plans of coach Paulo Sousa, Zarate was allowed to returning to English Premier League, where he will attempt to get his career back on track.
His first two spells in England’s top flight were reasonably successful, with 4 goals in 13 games for Birmingham City and 3 strikes in 15 appearances for West Ham.
