According to the Mirror, Watford’s Abdoulaye Doucoure could leave for £40 million, if any club meets their valuation.
Doucoure recently spoke about his ‘dream’ to play for Liverpool, and also about his desire to play in the Champions League.
Watford manager Javi Gracia says he hopes the midfielder would remain an important part of the Hornets team for a long time yet and play in Europe with them, but he understands players’ wishes to play for a big club. He also points out, however, that Watford is a big club too.
As much as Gracia would love the midfielder to stay, the club may be forced into a sale of either Doucoure or Richarlison. Their finances are in a surprisingly good condition at the moment, but a big sale is expected in order to keep them so.
In today’s market the sum of £40 million is hardly an unaffordable one for any top-six club, and given all his recent statements, it’s likely Doucoure will leave Vicarage Road this summer.
