Borussia Dortmund general manager Hans-Joachim Watzke has congratulated Bayern Munich on securing the services of Pep Guardiola as coach.
Bayern confirmed on Wednesday that the Barcelona icon would be taking over from Jupp Heynckes at the end of the season, and Watzke feels the move is a demonstration of the quality of the Bundesliga.
“I think it’s great,” he told Die Welt.
“Huge compliments to Bayern for this coup. You cannot begrudge them this. The league is doing really well. The whole world sees that, as we’re able to get such a good coach in Germany.
“The pressure on Bayern to succceed will not be any less.”
Borussia Dortmund and Bayern are set to face off in the DFB-Pokal quarter-final in February as Heynckes looks for a successful run to end his tenure as boss.
