Still with their sights set on clinching the Western Conference outright this season, Wayne Rooney’s DC United will welcome Toronto to Audi Field on Sunday.

Starting with the hosts, with Wayne Rooney scoring the only goal from inside his own half to help DC United pick up a 1-0 win over Orlando in midweek, Ben Olsen’s side have now been handed the opportunity to climb top of the West. Losing just one of their last six outings, fans around Washington will be most impressed with the ongoing form of the former England skipper. Including bagging the winner against a resurgent Orlando on Thursday, the 33-year-old has now bagged nine MLS goals this season and sits third in the overall goalscoring charts. Given Toronto’s continued defensive struggles, Rooney should be confident of extending his goalscoring tally.

As for the visitors, after surprising many and clinching a dramatic 3-2 win over reigning MLS champions Atlanta in midweek, Head Coach Greg Vanney will be desperate for his side to build off that result. With that victory on Thursday just their first since the 4th of May, the Reds now find themselves on the verge of slipping out of the top-seven. A huge part of Toronto’s continued issues has come down to their recent performances outside of Ontario. Suffering a 3-0 hammering away at Dallas in their last appearance away from BMO Field, Toronto have lost three of their last four on the road, shipping two or more goals in each of those defeats.
