Something that looked impossible just few weeks ago is now a realistic possibility as Wayne Rooney prepares for the Old Trafford exit.
With new contract negotiations breaking down and an increasing tension between the player and Sir Alex Ferguson, Wayne Rooney has reportedly set his sights on leaving the club.
After a series of rows with the manager, Rooney’s relationship with Sir Alex looks to be at an all time low, and clashing with the manager has been a certain way out of the Old Trafford in the past.
The situation will alert a number of big clubs all over Europe but even though Chelsea and Manchester City are very keen on the England forward, it is highly unlikely that United are going to sell their most prized asset to one of the Premiership rivals.
Barcelona and Real Madrid, on the other hand, look like the favourites to sign Rooney should he become available, with the transfer set to challenge that of Cristiano Ronaldo for the most expensive signing ever.
