Reggina president Lillo Foti insisted on Tuesday that the Serie A basement dwellers’ fate has not yet been sealed.
Reggina sit seven points from safety with seven matches remaining following successive home defeats to Genoa (1-0) and Udinese (2-0).
They have not won in 18 league matches since they beat Udinese (1-0) and Atalanta (3-1) in successive matches in mid-November.
But Foti is sure they can battle their way out of the mire.
“I don’t feel it and we’re not already condemned,” he said. “We have the desire to play and the outcome will be known on May 29.
“We’re men and we’re not looking for excuses. We know what the gap is but don’t forget that a few years ago we managed to get 12 points from our last four matches to stay in the division.”
