Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti believes his side have moved on from their form slump after they beat Blackburn 2-0 on Saturday.
Branislav Ivanovic and Nicolas Anelka both netted second-half goals as the Blues claimed a hard-fought three points at Stamford Bridge that moves them back into the top four.
Ancelotti thinks that Chelsea’s wretched run of form, which saw them win just two of 11 matches in all competitions, is now over.
“I think the difficult moment is gone. We came back to get a good result,” Ancelotti told SkySports.
“It is not easy to close the gap for the first position but we have to try. Our difficult moment was too long but now it is important to look forward and to maintain the atmosphere in our team.”
“The moment was too long and it was not easy to move on but today after the match I can say that we are doing really better. Our future could be really good.”
When quizzed whether his side can retain their Premier League crown, Ancelotti responded: “I don’t know this but we will fight every game with our strength.”
Blackburn manager Steve Kean was disappointed in the way his side conceded both goals, but had praise for Roque Santa Cruz who made his Rovers debut return on Saturday after joining on loan from Manchester City during the week.
“We thought we could have taken something from the game. Certainly we’re disappointed in the manner in which we lost the goals, defending set-plays,” Kean said.
“Normally we’re excellent and aggressive when we’re defending them and equally at the other end we’re normally aggressive.”
“I thought he (Roque) did really well. He’s going to be a great player for us and I think if we can get some service into and improve in our delivery and penetration in wide areas I think we’ll see the best of Roque.”
Kean also revealed the club are about to sign Schalke midfielder Jermaine Jones.
“We’ve got initial paperwork for Jermaine. If we can push that through in the early part of next week then that’ll be a great signing for us,” he said.
“There was a signing that almost happened on Friday that went backwards a little bit. So if we can get that back on track, I’m confident that will happen, that will be another two in.
