(GSM) – Cesc Fabregas advises Arsene Wenger to sign a target man in January. The Spanish midfielder admits the team needs a big physical presence up front to give them more threat in front of goal. Arsenal wants to sign an extra attacker when the transfer window opens again in January.
The Gunners will be without the injured Robin van Persie at least until March. Arsenal missed its Dutch striker dearly during the League Cup match against Manchester City (3-0 loss). “We had a lot of possession but didn’t have anyone to go in behind the defence apart from Carlos Vela,” Fabregas told The Guardian. “We had lots of players who like the ball into their feet. Sometimes you need a different kind of option.”
Fabregas praises Didier Drogba’s abillities, who recently made the difference between Chelsea and Arsenal in the Blues’ 3-0 win at Emirates last month. “Overall, I saw a Chelsea team that was normal but a team that has probably the best striker in the world.
“An average team that has the best striker in the world can always do something and Didier Drogba makes all the difference.
“We dominated for the first 40 minutes without creating too much. Maybe we didn’t have someone whose game is to go beyond defenders, and we were a little small to fight them on crosses.”
Speculation has linked several strikers like Marouane Chamakh (Bordeaux), Mario Balotelli (Inter Milan) and Edin Dzeko (VfL Wolfsburg) with a move to Arsenal.
“We will be out on the market that is for sure – however, we will only make a decision if it suits us,” Wenger said regarding the signing of a new striker.
