Competition: National League
Market: Wealdstone double chance
Odds: 4/6 @ 888sport
Looking to continue on what has been a remarkable start to the New Year, a high-flying Wealdstone will make the trip to the Shay Stadium on Tuesday night.
Starting with the hosts, while Halifax might have been able to pinch themselves a play-off finish last season, it has been a far more worrying start to the New Year for Pete Wild’s men. Crashing out of the FA Cup in what was a shock defeat away at lower league South Shields over the weekend, the Blues now find just their goal difference stopping them from slipping to the drop zone. Last seen on National League duties playing out what was a sluggish 0-0 stalemate against Dover last month before a host of off-field issues due to the current climate, Halifax are in the midst of a five-match winless run across all competitions and it should also be noted that before last year’s campaign was brought to an early halt, they were hit with back-to-back defeats on home soil.
As for the visitors, opening their maiden National League campaign by collecting just a single point from their opening three appearances, few would have expected what has been a stunning resurge for the Royals. Extending on their recent purple patch by picking up a 1-0 win at home against Altrincham, Head Coach Dean Brennan now finds his side in the midst of an eye-catching four-match winning run in England’s fifth-tier. Managing to find a route into the play-off spots and with the mood in their camp at a real high, it could be worth keeping an eye out for leading marksman Moses Emmanuel in midweek. Bagging the winner on Saturday afternoon, the 31-year-old has four National League goals to his name and will lead a Wealdstone side confident of having something to show for their efforts on the road.
