Manchester United forward Danny Welbeck will be fit in time for England’s Euro 2012 campaign in Poland and Ukraine, according to a report.
Having come off the bench in Manchester United’s clash with rivals Manchester City on Monday, the striker suffered a knock, following a nasty collision with midfielder Nigel de Jong.
De Jong was subsequently booked for the challenge and a furious touchline row ensued between Sir Alex Ferguson and Roberto Mancini.
The 21-year-old remained on the pitch but was later seen leaving the Etihad Stadium on crutches with his leg in a cast.
It was initially feared the United man had suffered a fracture, but a scan has since revealed he has just suffered bruising to his lower leg.
Welbeck is expected to miss both of United’s remaining fixtures against Swansea and Sunderland, though the Daily Mail have suggested he will be back in time for England’s opening game of Euro 2012 against France on June 11.
