Arsene Wenger is keen for Danny Welbeck to pen a new contract at Arsenal, according to the Mail Online.
The England international is back at full fitness after spending the majority of the last eighteen months in and out of the treatment room and the Gunners manager is keen for him to extend his stay at the club beyond next summer, when his current deal expires.
Wenger also believes the former Manchester United man could be an asset for his country ahead of this summers World Cup finals in Russia.
Since signing for the North London club, Welbeck has racked up ninety-three appearances in all competitions, scoring twenty-two goals while internationally he has been capped thirty-six times for his country, scoring fifteen.
The twenty-seven year old is set to start as Arsenal take on Ostersunds in the second leg of the Europa Leage round of 32 tie on Thursday evening.
