Welbeck signs for Brighton

Brighton & Hove Albion have confirmed the signing of former Manchester United, Arsenal & Watford striker Danny Welbeck.

Seagulls manager Graham Potter had the following to say after the signing of the 29-year-old was announced.

“We are delighted to have Danny joining us. He will complement our existing striking options.

“He’s got an undoubted pedigree, and he is quick and technically very good. He will add to our attacking threat and we are thrilled to add another player of his experience and quality.”

While Welbeck may not be known as the most prolific striker in world football he can certainly do a job, and Brighton certainly need reinforcements.

Welbeck is a former England international and it doesn’t seem as if he’s going to get a call up anytime soon, but this move isn’t about that. It’s about him getting back to a point where he’s finding success with a top flight side.
