(GSM) – Spartak Moscow kept their goal of playing European football next season alive with a 4-2 victory over Tom Tomsk on Saturday.
The Muscovites, normally candidates for the Russian title, have had to adjust their season targets after finding themselves in sixth position.
It was a Brazilian-inspired victory for Spartak, who took the lead through Welliton in the 52nd minute. Within six minutes, the forward went on to add another two to practically leave the match decided.
Sergey Kornilenko pulled on eback in the 68th minute but Spartak kept control of things and scored a fourth through Alex late on. Kornilenko went on to convert an injury time penalty for 4-2.
There was some bad news for Spartak as well as Sergeu Pesjakov was sent off in the final minutes and will have to miss his side’s next match.
