Wenger: ´We can win everything´

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has boldly suggested the Gunners can claim the domestic treble and the Champions League trophy this season.

Arsenal did their chances of progressing to the Champions League quarter-finals no harm with a 2-1 defeat of Spanish giants Barcelona at the Emirates on Wednesday.

Next up is a short trip to League One outfit Leyton Orient in a FA Cup fifth round clash on Sunday, followed by a trip to Wembley to face Birmingham City in the Carling Cup final next weekend.

In-between, the Gunners host Stoke City in a midweek Premier League fixture, looking to chip away at the four-point gap that separates them from leaders Manchester United.

Arsenal, who have lost just two games across all competitions since December, are riding a wave of confidence following their come-from-behind win over Barca, and Wenger admitted that his players are daring to dream of ending the club’s six-season trophy drought with a clean sweep.

“We are hungry for success. Every time we go out we just want to win the next game,” Wenger said.

“I personally believe we go for every single competition to the end. We have the hunger and the talent and are committed.”

“From Wednesday we can get more belief. But Sunday is the FA Cup and we will have total focus and commitment because we want to be successful against Leyton Orient.”

“We are involved in every single competition. That is why our destiny will be determined by our mobility for every game.”

Wenger has challenged his players to bring the same level of intensity and commitment to Leyton Orient as they did against Barca, wary of another slip-up that saw Arsenal come within minutes of losing 1-0 at home to Leeds United in the FA Cup third round.

“We want to keep the same level of commitment and attitude otherwise we’ll have bad surprises,” the Arsenal manager said.

“It is as big a game as Barcelona because we have to show we can mentally switch from one competition to the other with all the targets we have in front of us, with the same resolute attitude.”

“That is what is at stake on Sunday. People will say we have beaten Barcelona so we will be beat Leyton Orient. It doesn’t work like that.”

“You beat Leyton Orient if you turn up with the same attitude. I believe it will be down to attitude and focus.”

“Orient are doing well at the moment and they are on a high. They had a very good game in the fourth round so we are warned. They try to play football so you should see another interesting game on Sunday.”
