Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has added fuel to speculations linking the Gunners with a move for West Ham midfielder Mohamed Diame.
The French manager faces a genuine selection headache ahead of the rearranged match against West Ham, with both Mikel Arteta and Francis Coquelin sidelined through injury.
The latest problems have only outlined team’s need for a new holding midfielder, and Wenger admits he is interested in signing West Ham’s Momo Diame.
“He has a great presence in the games,” Wenger told reporters. “I’ve seen him in games where he’s had a big impact, for example against Chelsea. He can drive the midfield.”
Diame reportedly has a £3.5 million release clause inserted in his deal, which makes him a perfect target for the Gunners.
Wenger has yet to step up his interest in the 25-year-old, but the latest injury crisis could see him finally make a move on the highly rated midfielder.
Momo Diame, who joined West Ham on a free transfer from Wigan in the summer, has made 17 Premier League appearances this season and scored 2 goals in the process.
