Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has confirmed his interest in Lille highly rated forward Eden Hazard.
The Gunners have been following the Belgian forward for a while and they could enter the race to sign him at the end of the season.
Hazard has already revealed that he wants to leave Lille next summer and he has hinted at a move to English Premier League.
Arsene Wenger now admits that the Gunners are very interested in the 21-year-old.
“I would be happy to take him as a centre back”, Wenger told Belgian newspaper La Derniere Heure. “Joking aside though, I really like him – for several reasons.
“His creativity, his skill at throwing opponents off balance, and his sublime ability when making the final pass make him an exciting player.”
The Frenchman believes the Belgian is ready for the big stage and that he would be a big asset at the Emirates.
“Hazard has the profile which would allow him to progress at a top level club. Arsenal is such a top level club.”
Arsenal are likely to face a stiff competition for the player’s signature as Hazard is tracked by a number of high-profile sides.
Hazard has been in scintillating form this season, scoring 8 goals and creating 8 assists in 21 Ligue 1 games.
