(GSM) – Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed his interest in Blacburn defender Phil Jones. However, the French manager also stated that he will not make an immediate move for the youngster.
Jones has come to prominence in recent months after being handed his first Premier League start by Sam Allardyce in March.
Arsenal are reportedly leading the chase for the 18-year-old ahead of other Premier League clubs Chelsea, Manchester City, Tottenham and Liverpool.
Wenger has now confirmed his interest, but admits he is not considering a bid at the moment.
“He’s had a few good games but we’ve not made an enquiry about him,” Wenger told the Daily Telegraph.
“I think he is a good player – but not yet. He needs to play longer to really assess him.”
