Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has refused to rule out the possibility of re-signing Robin van Persie from Manchester United, the Metro understands.

The Dutch international swapped the Emirates Stadium for Old Trafford in August 2012, and ended the season with a second successive Premier League Golden Boot and a Premier League winner’s medal.

Speculation that the 30 year old wants to leave the club has been rife since David Moyes replaced Sir Alex Ferguson as manager.

Van Persie spent eight years with the Gunners, scoring 132 goals in 277 appearances though his only major honour in that time was the FA Cup, which he won in his first season in England.

He is set to return to his old stomping ground for the second time tomorrow evening, and is priced at 5/1 to get the first goal of the game, as he did when the sides met at Old Trafford back in November, when the reigning Champions ran out 1-0 winners.
