(GSM) – Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has dismissed reports linking the London club with a move for Bordeaux playmaker Yoann Gourcuff.

The Arsenal chief has stated that he already has the attacking depth required in the midfield, pouring cold water on any suggested move.

While admitting that Gourcuff is a talented player, he said in no uncertain terms “we are not interested”.

Wenger told Insidefutbol he “likes Gourcuff a lot” but said the club “already have sufficient cover in midfield”.

Gourcuff is expected to leave Bordeaux in the summer transfer window and has also been linked with a move within Le Championat.

Lyon are said to be interested his signature but they are yet to meet Bordeaux’s 26 million euro price tag.

Lyon Club president Jean-Michel Aulas has spoken to clear up any misunderstanding over Gourcuff’s abilities, saying: “Gourcuff is not worth 26million euros but (Bordeaux) tell me I do not appreciate (him).”
