Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has praised Marseille midfielder Mathieu Valbuena for his role in France’s 3-1 victory over Georgia.
The experienced midfielder was one of the best players on the pitch as les Bleus recorded another important victory and the Arsenal manager was impressed by the player’s display.
“He has become essential (for France), very comfortable in small spaces”, Wenger told Telefoot. “He is also a player who can take responsibility.”
Arsenal have been linked with a move for Valbuena in the past and Wenger’s comments are likely to add fuel to speculations linking the France international with a summer switch to the Emirates.
Mathieu Valbuena has developed into one of France’s top midfielders since joining Marseille from Libourne, and he is widely tipped to leave OM for a big European club in the summer.
The 28-year-old has scored a total of 23 goals in 186 Ligue 1 matches for the French giants, and he has bagged 2 goals and produced 8 assists in 29 games this term.
