Wenger hit with UEFA charge

Arsene Wenger has been charged with improper conduct by UEFA following his post-match criticism of the referee in Arsenal’s 3-0 win over Milan.

Despite their comfortable victory, the north London side dropped out of the Champions League on aggregate as they failed to overturn a 4-0 first-leg deficit.

And Wenger vented his frustration about referee Damir Skomina after the match, claiming the Slovenian official was the reason for his side’s elimination.

Skomina awarded Milan 21 free-kicks, a number which Wenger insisted was unreasonable.

The Arsenal manager is likely to receive a touchline ban from UEFA, a move which would represent a third such sanction for the Frenchman in the last year.

His most recent ban came in qualification for this season’s Champions League, where he watched the Gunners overcome Udinese from the stands.
